Meet The Bolt’s Newest Writer: Rachel

By: Rachel Wipple

Hello everybody! I am Rachel Whipple, and though I didn’t make it into the orientation issue, I would like to assure you that I am really excited to be a contract writer for The Bolt this year. My role will be the “floating writer,” so I will be reporting on anything and everything. I will also be running a poetry column throughout the year where I will feature our wonderful Concordia writers. If you or one of your friends write a poem that you want to share in the paper, submit it to me at rwhipple@student.concordia.ab.ca. One lucky person, per issue, will have their poem featured in The Bolt. I would love to have a poem in each issue but it all depends on how many people want to get involved and share their talents with the Concordia community. The featured poet will be interviewed by me on a few things such as how you were inspired, what style of writing you enjoy, and whatever else might be relevant for your piece. We here at The Bolt will feature a short biography on the poet and even include a picture (completely optional). Only one poem will be published per issue but all poems submitted will be featured on our website www.theboltnews.com.

So a little a bit about myself I suppose. This year will be the second of my four year Bachelor of Arts degree. I am taking a bit of everything but currently I am declared an English major and Drama minor. Switching the two may be in my future—who knows! Admittedly, I work way too much, but when I am not making deliveries or sitting behind a desk, I do enjoy dancing (not necessarily clubbing), winter sports, swimming, and going out to eat. I love to paint in my spare time and my guilty pleasure is the reality TV show “Big Brother.” Currently I drive a beat up, light blue, 1988 Chevy Corsica. If you see me cruising around feel free to wave or just point and laugh. I’m looking forward to an awesome year at The Bolt and working with some very talented people. Thank you for reading our paper, and I hope many of you decide to write for us as well.
