Here is a list of all the summer festivals going on in Edmonton.
If you happen to be at the Kdays Parade, make sure to look for myself, Kayle Sieben, representing Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society. Though my aboriginal roots are faint, I wanted to take the time to represent Bent Arrow because it is truly a remarkable company working with individuals and families to enrich their lives. I’ve spent the past year of my life working with this company in two different roles, and each have taught my valuable life lessons, as well as enabled me to enhance peoples’ lives.
If you haven’t heard, Edmonton was named one of the top summer destinations by National Geographic. When I heard this I was like, “wait a minute, people from all around the world appreciate my home?” I then hit the streets, attending What The Truck on May 23, and I happened to run into a group of tourists who have travelled here all the way from Germany. I had to resist the temptation to blurt out “my name is seven in german (sieben)!” They claimed they had heard nothing but good things about Edmonton and Canada, and as cliche as it may be they were in line for poutine at the La Poutine truck.
Taking a step back, however, it makes me proud to be an Edmontonian. On a larger scale, I’m also proud to be Albertan and Canadian. Take pride in our community, our city, and our nation. We’ve got one of the most amazing geographical landscapes, and the world’s most amazing population (subjectively speaking). We all come from our own unique cultures, locations, and religion. Perhaps that’s what makes Canada such an enticing destination; the combination of breath-taking scenery mixed with such a warm, inviting population.
You are what make this country great, so make sure to spread that Canadian love no matter where your travels take you this summer. We will rendezvous back here at Concordia in September, and I wish you all have the most memorable summer break to date. We want to hear about all of your summer journeys and adventures; send us a tweet or an email
(firstname.lastname@example.org) with a photo so we can show the world just how engaged our Concordia population is.
Enjoy your summer, everyone!
