As a new member of the team, I thought I should tell you, our avid readers, a few things about myself. I am finishing my Bachelor of Arts this year as a History major, Education minor, and I plan on returning to Concordia in the fall as a Bachelor of Education student. I have spent the past seven years working with children that have special needs, and I absolutely love it. I am a diehard NFL fan, so if you see me in the hallways do not hesitate to predict draft picks with me. I even dressed up as Troy Polamalu for Halloween. I love Starbucks almost as much as I love my pet tortoise, and I live with my best friend.
I was anxious at first to share an office with two boisterous young men (and Tyler, the VP Internal, but he is hardly rambunctious), but I was immediately ushered in as one of the family. Between weaving blue and white rubber bands into Rainbow Loom bracelets and trying to stuff a mini fridge into the back of Nick's car, I realized how much I care about my fellow editors. Nick and Jonathan put their heart and soul into each and every issue of The Bolt, and I am so happy to contribute to their efforts.
Although my duties have just begun, I already have trouble remembering life without seeing our editing team every day. We have already had some very late nights together working out catchy headlines and crossword hints, but the end result is certainly worth it. Editing articles has been rewarding, intellectually stimulating, and has given me a deep appreciation for all those on The Bolt team. Our writers take time out of their hectic schedules to research a topic and write great articles, without which we simply would not have a publication. I think it's phenomenal that Concordia has an entirely student run paper despite how small we are, and that it is so well written and with a better than ever layout.
If you also would like to join The Bolt team, you can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are always looking for new writers, and we want you to write about what you care about. I look forward to editing your submissions.
