As the VP of Student Life I am in charge of many different aspects of student life. I am mostly responsible for making sure that you all are having a great time at Concordia and you enjoy your time here. I am responsible for organizing and executing all major events outside of the school and events at Concordia. This includes pub-crawls, CUCA Spooka, Spring Break Ski-Trip, Thunderwear Fridays, the Ugly Sweater Contest, and future parties and events this year. If there is an event the CSA is putting on, I probably have some sort of responsibility in planning and running it. In this position I get to look at what worked well in the past for the CSA, event wise, and say “that hasn’t worked in the past, let’s try it this way”, or “hey, we have never done this kind of event before, let’s try.
Being a part of the CSA has been one of the best decision I have made since coming to Concordia. It has allowed me to expand my skill-sets that Concordia has helped foster in me. It has also made me face some of my fears and apprehensions and to move past them and become a better, more reliable person. Through this position I am able to see events I want put on at the school and see them grow and take shape. There are days where the work required to make sure an event like CUCA Spooka or the Ski-Trip happens can be exhausting, but that’s part of the fun in this position. You get to learn about how you handle stress and strive to get past the stress to see an event succeed. Being able to talk to students who have ideas for events at Concordia and being able to make those desires come alive for students is what gets me excited to come to school every day.
We have a bunch of events coming up for you guys and gals to attend here at Concordia. Make sure you keep your eyes out for signs and poster for upcoming events. Upcoming events include:
February 13th: Valentines Events
February 16th-19th: Ski Trip
February 27th: Hockey Pep Rally
March 11th: Wing Night
March 27th: Final Thunderwear Friday
I encourage you all to come out to as many events as possible here at Concordia. University life is about trying new things and experiencing as much as possible. You will enjoy your time at Concordia way more if you venture out and try new things.
