Mr. Garretson will be speaking to us on Young Entrepreneurs. Mr. Garretson comes to us as a management consultant at Alberta Business Sales. He has a background in financial management and experience with business management, human resource management, and business development. We are excited to receive his input on the many possibilities that young entrepreneurs and recent university graduates have in today’s world. Once out of school and trying to find a career, it can often become a confusing time for recent university graduates. There are so many options and paths available to you and Mr. Garretson will help to outline some of these options and make your options more clear. Mr. Garretson has a wide variety of experience in many of the fields that Concordia students are exposed to in Business programs. Because of this, we believe he will have something valuable to provide for everyone who attends.
There will also be professionals from many different industries in attendance in order to give students opportunities to network in areas that are of interest to them. More specifically, there will be professionals from Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, and Leadership in attendance. As students we are always reminded that once you graduate and are looking for a career it is not what you know, but who you know. The Concordia Business Association’s Networking Conference is an opportunity to get to know professionals who are already in the workforce. This can help students in any faculty with their career search once they have graduated. It is important to begin networking now while you are still in school. These professionals are eager to share their advice and experience with students in order to help you become successful now and in the future. In my experiences with networking, these professionals understand that we, as students, are the leaders of tomorrow and they want us to be as ready for success as possible.
It is important to realize that this Networking Conference will benefit all students from all faculties, not just the students currently enrolled in the Management program here at Concordia. Students from all faculties will benefit from already having contacts in the professional world now and when they graduate. This is a great opportunity to network with professionals and other students that attend Concordia and other schools. Previous year’s events have proven to be worthwhile for all who attended. There are only 150 tickets in total, so we encourage you to buy your $30.00 tickets at the Concordia Bookstore as soon as possible. See you there!
