Halloween Movies Without Spooks!

By: Hannah Sacrey

If you are easily scared by horror, slasher, and overall frightening movies, this article is for you! Sometimes you want to embrace the spooky season without spooks and these movies will provide Halloween vibes without extreme jumpscares, haunts, and ghouls.

The Harry Potter Series

If you want witches and wizards without it being explicitly spooky then Harry Potter is the perfect movie series for you to watch this season! For added fun, you can host a watch party of the series with friends, complete with Harry Potter-themed snacks!

The Nightmare Before Christmas

Now this pick may be a little controversial as some consider this a Christian movie, but why can’t it be both? The Nightmare Before Christmas is a classic holiday movie for a reason! The film follows the antics of Jack Skellington as he tries to control Christmas. It's a two-holiday movie in one to celebrate Halloween and the anticipation of the Christmas season! Complete your watching experience by setting the cozy vibes with mood lighting and an autumn-scented candle.

Corpse Bride

The Corpse Bride is the perfect spooky-ish pick for musical and fantasy lovers alike! The film centers around Victor and Emily as they become “married” under unprecedented circumstances and misunderstandings. Complete with stunning visuals and an eccentric cast of characters-- this is a charming movie with just the right amount of drama for this season!

The Twilight Saga

Twilight brings together the chilly weather of fall and is complete with the shiny and cold Cullen family, who are vampires among the people of Forks, Washington. It has the atmosphere of the spooky season without an explicit Halloween theme. The acting, 2000s music, and a “so bad it's good” ambiance, to some, make this movie just perfect for spooky Halloween enjoyers.

Over The Garden Wall

This one is a mini-series, but it is too charming and whimsical to not include on this list! Over the Garden Wall follows the adventures of brothers who get lost in the ‘Unknown.” Packed with autumn vibes, this is the perfect mini-series to enjoy while sipping on a hot latte and a warm snack!

I hope you enjoy the Halloween season with these fall or supernatural-themed movies. Be sure to stay safe and enjoy some Halloween candy this thirty-first!
